Timetable changes from 13 December

Virgin Trains has however worked with Network Rail and other train operators to identify changes that can sensibly be made within the current framework of the timetable and the following is a list of the principal alterations.

Mondays to Fridays Northbound
05:35 London Euston to Liverpool Lime St departs at 05:27
05:47 London Euston to Glasgow Central departs at 05:39
18:46 Friday Only service London Euston to Preston calls additionally Crewe at 21:01
19:30 London Euston to Glasgow Central ceases to call at Crewe
19:40 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly calls additionally at Crewe at 21:21
22:43 London Euston to Wolverhampton departs earlier at 22:30 and arrives Wolverhampton at 01:03
23:43 London Euston to Wolverhampton departs earlier at 23:30
Most London Euston to Chester and/or North Wales services will convey customers to Milton Keynes Central (7 days a week).

Weekend alterations to the main timetable include rail replacement coaches on Sundays between Rhyl and Crewe from 7 February until 28 March 2010, and extensive route improvement work north of Preston at weekends between the same dates.

20:10 Glasgow Central to Crewe calls additionally Carstairs at 20:36 on Mondays to Thursdays to make a connection with a Trans Pennine service from Edinburgh thereby providing a later service from the Scottish capital for stations to Carlisle, Preston and Manchester . On Fridays there is a direct service from Edinburgh to Manchester.
Most North Wales/Chester to London Euston services will convey customers from Milton Keynes Central to Euston (7 days a week).

Sundays - Southbound
1618 Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston calls additionally Lichfield Trent Valley at 17:27 to provide a fast service to London on Sunday afternoons

More parking spaces at Wigan North Western station

The new multi-storey car park at Wigan North Western station will open on Monday 7 December. The expanded car park will provide an additional 135 parking spaces, making a total of 403 spaces available at the West Coast station.

More car parking spaces for Stafford station

Virgin Trains in partnership with Network Rail is doubling the number of car parking spaces available for rail passengers at Stafford station. When the new car park completed it will provide an additional 272 car parking spaces. The new 522-space car park is expected to be completed in late 2010.

Virgin delivers best ever train performance

Virgin Trains' West Coast rail franchise has just recorded its best ever train performance. In the four weeks ending 17 October 93.4 percent of trains arrived on time at their destination, beating the previous record of 91.3 percent in May 2006.

More car parking spaces at Wolverhampton

The first phase of an expanded car park at Wolverhampton station is started. The car park will provide an additional 77 parking spaces, making a total of 477 spaces available at the West Midlands station.

Best July train punctuality for over a decade

July saw 92.4% of trains arriving on time across Great Britain making it the best July since records began over a decade ago.

More seats between Midlands and Scotland

Passengers are to be offered thousands of extra seats over the next few weeks on the busy Virgin Trains route between the West Midlands and Scotland through Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.

C2C becomes most punctual operator ever

Train operator c2c, which runs commuter services from London Fenchurch Street, has become Britain's most punctual operator - ever - reaching an average of 95.8% of services on time over the 12 months to 27 June 2009. c2c has beaten the previous record set by Chiltern Railways of 95.4% in 2005.
