Eurostar is busy in both directions with UK residents wanting to enjoy the spring weather at destinations in France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. The strong euro against the pound is also attracting many thousands of visitors to London where they can get great deals in hotels and restaurants as well as the opportunity to snap up bargains in the shops.

The high volumes travelling over Easter further demonstrate the findings of Eurostar's Travel Report issued today (6 April), which concludes that the economic recession has increased the demand for travel as people closely examine their budgets and reprioritise their spending. Indeed, more people plan to go on holiday this year – 68% of adults in 2009 vs 65% in 2008.
