More car parking at Micheldever station

Ian Johnston, our Customer Service Director, said: “The additional spaces are great news for passengers travelling from Micheldever station. The integration of car and train travel is becoming more and more popular so extra space for parking is a welcome addition to the station's facilities.”

Mark Oaten MP, said: “I am delighted that South West Trains has recognised the importance of Micheldever Station by increasing the parking spaces. It is good news for commuters and local residents in the area.”

South West Trains is working on a number of car park schemes as part of a £20 million car park expansion programme to provide improved facilities and at least 2,000 extra spaces at car parks across our network.

Passenger satisfaction highest ever!

Passengers' overall satisfaction with us has jumped two per cent from last autumn to 87% - this is the highest passenger overall satisfaction rating achieved so far.

New link for visitors to Southampton Airport

With more and more people using the train to get to Southampton Airport this new footbridge will provide many passenger benefits. Lifts will be installed making it easier for those travelling with lots of luggage and providing much needed access for disabled passengers.

Train performance reaches an all time high

South West Trains had recorded the best performance figure to date. Between 17 August and 13 September our PPM (Public Performance Measure) reached 95.9%.

Pre-paid ticket collection from ticket machines

Our ticket machines now have a new facility to make buying tickets more convenient – so people can buy their tickets from our website or our Customer Service Centre and collect their pre-paid train tickets.

Working for a better environment

We are always looking at ways to reduce our impact on the environment. That's why we're working hard to cut energy use at our stations, depots and offices and have set ourselves a target to slash our carbon emissions by 2,000 tonnes over the next two years.

National Passenger Survey results

The National Passenger Survey, released by rail watchdog Passengerfocus, shows we are continuing to make improvements by delivering a safe, punctual and reliable service.

More tickets types available from ticket machines

Our programme to install 444 new easy-to-use machines across our network, which started in 2006, is due to be completed towards the end of this year.

New national fare structure for 2008

Since 18 May 'Apex' and 'SuperAdvance' tickets will be replaced by 'Advance' tickets. These tickets will have common terms and conditions with all Train Operating Companies and Railcard discounts will be available for most national Railcards.

£200,000 joint investment at stations

Twelve of our stations have had new fencing installed in a £200,000 joint project with Network Rail.
