Eurostar launches search for its customers

The search has begun for the lucky passengers and well wishers who travelled in the first day of service or who were at Waterloo International on 14th November 1994 - the day services began nearly 13 years ago.

Following a flood, the archives containing the official photography were destroyed, so Eurostar is now asking people to come forward with their own photographs and stories to help celebrate that momentous day.

Eurostar has created an online portal for people to upload their stories and photographs. For those chosen to be featured on the site, there will be the chance to win return tickets to Paris, Brussels or Lille from the new St Pancras International terminal.

The opening of St Pancras International on 14 November 2007 and the launch of services on High Speed 1, the new 186 mph line between London and the continent, represents a giant leap into the future for European travellers.

Simon Montague, Director of Communications, said:
“As well as looking forward to St Pancras, we also want to celebrate our first thirteen years at Waterloo and those first historic journeys between London and Paris in 1994.

“The day we began operations was hugely important to us and our travellers, so the loss of our photographic archive was very sad. However, we are confident that our original customers can help us build up a new record of that unique day and we look forward to seeing the photos and stories that we know are out there.”
